Auroras Expected to be Visible Near the City

High Likelihood of Seeing Aurora North of Vancouver, Moderate Likelihood Near the City

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has forecasted a high likelihood of seeing the aurora borealis, or Northern Lights, north of Vancouver on May 10, 2024. There is also a moderate likelihood of seeing the aurora near the city itself.

The aurora borealis is a natural light display in the sky, primarily visible at high latitude regions (around the Arctic and Antarctic). It is caused by the interaction of charged particles from the sun with the Earth's atmosphere.

If you are hoping to see the Northern Lights, it is important to find a location with dark skies and minimal light pollution. Some good viewing spots near Vancouver include Stanley Park, Lighthouse Park, and Belcarra Regional Park.

You should also be aware that the aurora borealis is a unpredictable phenomenon. While NOAA has forecasted a high likelihood of seeing the aurora on May 10, 2024, there is no guarantee that it will be visible.
